Signals FAQ

  • What are Signals?

Signals are alerts that identify when people in your database begin actively shopping for a home. Rather than relying on outdated lead lists or guessing who might be ready to move, Signals use verified online home shopping activity to identify clients who are showing genuine purchase intent.

Once a match is detected, you'll receive an alert so you can reconnect with your client while they're still early in their home search.

  • How many Signals can I expect?

The number of Signals you receive depends primarily on the size and quality of your contact database.

Because the average homeowner stays in a home for many years, Signals are designed to identify the relatively small percentage of contacts who become active buyers at any given time. Rather than overwhelming you with every contact, the platform prioritizes the people who are most likely to transact.

As you add more contacts, you'll naturally receive more opportunities over time.

  • Where does this data come from?

Signals are generated from home shopping activity observed across a network of more than 3,300 real estate websites and tools used by over 25 million unique monthly users.

Unlike solutions that only monitor activity on major listing portals, Signals detect meaningful engagement across a broader network, allowing the system to:

  • Identify serious home shoppers
  • Filter out casual browsing
  • Detect activity 60–120 days earlier than many traditional data sources

The platform is built with privacy in mind, collecting data only where appropriate user consent has been obtained and honoring consumer opt-out requests.

  • What should I do when I receive a Signal?

A Signal indicates that someone in your database may be entering the market. It's an opportunity to reconnect—not necessarily proof they're ready to buy or sell today.

Best practices include:

  • Reach out promptly while their home search is still early.
  • Start with a helpful, relationship-focused conversation rather than a sales pitch.
  • Offer market insights, answer questions, or provide resources relevant to their home search.
  • Use the Signal to prioritize your follow-up efforts over cold outreach.

The goal is to reconnect before your client begins working with another agent.

  • What if I have more than one address for a person?

You can upload your contacts using basic information such as names and contact details—no sensitive personal information is required.

If a client has multiple addresses (for example, a primary residence and an investment property), it's recommended to keep the contact record as complete and up to date as possible. This helps improve matching accuracy when monitoring shopping activity.

If your CRM supports multiple addresses for a single contact, include all known addresses when importing your data. If you're unsure how your data is structured, your account team can help you determine the best import format.

  • How quickly can I get started?

Getting started takes just a few minutes:

  • Upload your client database.
  • The platform begins monitoring for home shopping activity.
  • You'll automatically receive alerts when your contacts become active shoppers.
